Introducing the Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo

Meet the Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo, a new model of running shoes developed by Nike in cooperation with leading global runners.

Nike Zoom Pegasus TurboBased on the direct feedback received on its Nike Air Zoom Pegasus model from leading runners all over the world, Nike has come up with major modifications to help you achieve even higher speed than ever before. The Turbo model is inspired by the Nike Zoom Vaporfly Elite marathon running shoes and features the same highly-responsive ZoomX foam as well as the same shape of heel.

THREE FACTS ABOUT ZOOMX

•    It returns up to 85% of the energy spent, making it the best of all the types of foam by Nike.

•    The lightest foam by Nike (a single 44 men’s shoe weighs 240 grams and a women’s 39 shoe a mere 200 grams).

•    This foam is used in three silhouettes: Zoom Vaporfly Elite, Zoom Vaporfly 4%, and now Zoom Pegasus Turbo as well.

ENERGY-TRANSFER MECHANISM

Just a quick refresh on your physics knowledge: energy can be only transferred, never created or destroyed. Here, the Nike ZoomX foam substantially reduces the volume of energy lost on each landing during your run. And how does it work? The foam always springs back to its original shape when your foot takes off. The better the foam returns to its original shape, the more energy is transferred back to the outsole, and thus to your body. Unlike Nike Zoom Vaporfly Elite and 4%, the Turbo model has no carbon-fibre plate. This is a strategic move, though, as the plate supports stiffness and sensation of propulsion, which enables the runners to quickly start off the surface. Eliud Kipchoge and Galen Rupp, who’ve run a marathon wearing these shoes, point out that it’s these properties that make the previous models ideal for races, but not suitable for everyday use. As the ZoomX foam returns the greatest amount of energy from among all the foams ever developed by Nike, Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo shoes are ideal for your everyday training runs.

SHOCK ABSORPTION

Running shoes serve as shock absorbers, dampening the impact to your body during your runs. In racing cars, shock absorbers reduce bouncing and help the driver keep control over the car, and it is necessary to set the shocks up individually for each racing circuit. Just like a racing car, your body needs special shock absorbers tuned for the various types of running you do.

A PEEK UNDER THE HOOD

The 10-mm offset and thicker stack height are designed to help you work better with the energy you spend. The details on the instep form special cables that hold the laces as well. The heel features an offset wedge made of Nike React foam (added to increase durability and stability) while small rubber projections on the outsole help absorb shock and make your run more comfortable.

Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo

A thick racing strip leads from the middle of the tongue to the tip of the shoe. The structure of the heel collar copies the curve of the Achilles tendon to avoid unpleasant friction or irritation at sensitive spots.

The Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo shoes will be available from August 2 in our Top4Running.cz online shop and in the physical shop in Prague.
